The Financial Markets specialist area determines the strategic guidelines for the Committee's activities in the area of financial markets, coordinating closely with the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA). As the senior committee, the Financial Markets specialist area coordinates the specialist work carried out in the specialist Insurance Committee, the Committee for Collective Investments and the specialist Committee for Bank Audits. This Committee is responsible for producing working tools for auditors working in the area of financial markets. In addition, it produces position statements on draft regulations from international and domestic standard setters and regulators (in particular the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA)). It focuses on audits of financial service providers (in particular banks, securities traders and insurance companies). In turn, the specialist Insurance Committee contains a number of sub-committees, which are as follows:
- i. AHV Compensation Fund (AHV)
- ii. Occupational Pension Schemes (PVE)
- iii. Health Insurers (KVG)
- iv. Life and Non-Life Insurers (PV/SV)
These working groups address audit-related issues in their sub-areas and provide working tools and checklists in this regard. The sub-committees also act as points of contact for administrative and supervisory authorities, both at national and cantonal levels.
